Asylum Seekers: The Policies, Practice and the Rhetoric
Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Conference 2009
Abstract submissions are invited for the Annual Researchers for Asylum Seekers (RAS) Conference to be held at the University of Melbourne on Thursday, 26th November, 2009. The RAS conference is designed for Postgraduate students from Australia and New Zealand to interact and share their current research/work among peers in a friendly and stimulating environment.
The theme for this year's conference is intended to accommodate postgraduate researchers - past and present - as well as practitioners, policy makers/advisors working in this area. Abstracts addressing any broad interpretation of the topic are welcome. Abstract submissions of 200 - 300 words for papers of 20 minutes duration are requested before 7th November, 2009. Please send your submissions and a brief biography to dhanji.surjeet at gmail.com
Phil Glendenning, Director of Edmund Rice Centre, involved in the documentary A Well Founded Fear will give the opening keynote address. Further details will be posted on the RAS website at www.ras.unimelb.edu.au <http://www.ras.unimelb.edu.au/> . Conference registration is free and a light lunch will be provided. A small stipend is available for inter-state travel.
