Announcement of Keynote Speakers and Extension of Closing Date for Submissions

 

The 11th Trans-Tasman Community Psychology Conference is a biennial conference shared between Australia and Aotearoa/New Zealand and is the premier Community Psychology conference in the southern hemisphere. The conference theme is "Exploring Boundaries, Expanding Frontiers".

 

The conference will be held in the harbour city of Fremantle, Western Australia, from Wednesday 15th July to Friday 17th July 2009. The keynote presenters are exciting local, national, and international experts on topics of broad community interest and include:

*	Professor Beth Shinn, Peabody College, Vanderbilt University, United States of America;
*	Associate Professor Darrin Hodgetts, Department of Psychology, University of Waikato, Aotearoa/New Zealand;
*	Dr Paul Duckett, Department of Psychology and Social Change, Manchester Metropolitan University, United Kingdom; 
*	Professor Judith McFarlane, College of Nursing, Texas Woman's University, United States of America;
*	Mr Darren Garvey, Centre for Aboriginal Studies, Curtin University of Technology, Australia; and
*	Professor Margaret Sims, School of Education, University of New England, Australia 

The primary aim of the conference is to advance discussions concerning community psychology. The sub-themes centre on current and emerging discussions and debate within community psychology and are relevant to community psychology research and practice. The conference also is devoting each day to a particular social issue - homelessness, women and violence, and cultural diversity. 

 

Please note the closing date for submissions has been extended to March 27th 2009.
