In the past Mirian has worked with the Child Protection and Youth Justice training unit responsible for implementing reflective practice and the new risk assessment model, managed a number of international projects for Mental Health Services, and been the Director of Mim Adolescent Services that undertook a range of participatory youth and community projects.

About this interactive workshop:

Action research offers the structure to work collaboratively with other professionals and community members to explore complex problems. It provides people with the means to take systematic action to resolve specific problems, which distinguishes the approach from other forms of social research. This workshop is designed to concentrate on problem solving through inquiry into human problems in real contexts.

As you learn about action research you will have the chance to reflect and consider its application to practical situations, and to understand the skills and processes related to action cycles and improving professional practice in community settings. There will be a mix of content and activity, with theory/practice integration.

Possible content
