Wednesday 15th July 2009 

"The CASEA Team Model: Working in a culturally sensitive way with children and parents in schools"

A Seminar with Jacqueline Novacek and Kelly Rennie, Royal Children Hospital CASEA Program

 In this seminar, Jacqueline and Kelly will present the CASEA model with particular reference to the applicability of the model for CALD families.  Discussion will focus on how CASEA has established links with schools in working more collaboratively with CALD families.  Information about modifications to the program in the areas of screening, parent-teacher interviews, parent interviews, child assessments, parent and child group interventions, report writing, and diagnosis will also be discussed.  They will touch on issues to consider when working with interpreters in group work, and present outcome data.

The seminar will be followed by a transcultural case study presented by a Psychiatric Registrar of St Vincent's Hospital.

Time:  Seminar ~ 3.00-4.00 pm;  Transcultural Case Presentation ~ 4.15- 5.15 pm.

Cost:  the seminar and case presentation are free of charge.
