Dear colleagues,
Public Achievement (PA) is a versatile model for facilitating civic engagement among children and youth, and has been successfully used in various places (USA, N. Ireland, Turkey, Palestine, Romania among others).

PA is showcased in the last issue of Connect, a newsletter edited by Roger Holdsworth. As you may already know, Roger is affiliated with the Center for Youth Studies at University of Melbourne. He has been working in schools for a long time and puts together a great radio program every Sunday at PBS.
He has been editing Connect for quite some time now. The newsletter features work focused on student participation in Australia and elsewhere.

The June issue features PA on the cover and the text is adapted from a paper that I wrote earlier for a conference book. The piece is titled, "Public Achievement in Turkey and beyond: Civic engagement as a tool for learning, empowerment and social change."

The piece illustrates PA work with examples from Turkey, Palestine, Moldova and Romania.

See: Connect, issue 171 (June), 3-8.

You can obtain a copy by contacting Roger Holdsworth at <r.holdsworth at unimelb.edu.au>.
