Film Fundraiser... <http://www.psychology.org.au/>

In August 2006, the APS College of Community Psychologists (Victorian Branch) held a film fundraiser to raise money for those affected by the Indonesian earthquake, in particular to support two Community Psychology students, whose families & communities have been devastated by the earthquake. (See photo of Monica with one of the assisted families beside their new house)

A second film fundraiser has been organised to further assist in the recovery of a small community outside Yogyakarta, to rebuild access to the water spring. Following the earthquake, which measured 6.3 on the Richter scale, access to the water spring in this village was blocked, and thus far there has not been any assistance to rebuild this public facility.

Come along to assist raise funds & see a great film...

The war on democracy

The War on Democracy is Australian writer-filmmaker John Pilger's first major feature film for the cinema, an extraordinary and illuminating documentary with Latin America at its heart. It explores people's yearning for democracy - government, for, by and of the people - and demonstrates the brutal reality of America's foreign policy of 'spreading democracy'. It also reveals the remarkable rise of true popular democracy and people power among the poorest on earth, the people of Latin America, whose grassroots movements are often ignored in the West (Cinema Nova).
