Dear All

Just a reminder that if you are a full member or an associate member of APS, you are eligible to vote in the current election for President-elect and 3 General Directors.

I have listed the nominees below, with an asterix beside the names of those candidates who are or have been members of the College of Community Psychologists - some of these names are well known to many of you, and I am happy to let anyone know who I plan to vote (or not) for if you contact me privately (Don't hit reply unless you want to be speaking to the whole list).

I think it's important to cast your vote, and to consider the spread of specialisations, research interests, policy agendas and locations that any combination of candidates would bring to the Board. I've added some brief notes below, but don't take my word - go to the APS website and check out the candidates' details for yourselves! http://www.psychology.org.au/about/board_elections_2007/

Four (4) nominations have been received for the position of President-Elect:

Dr Penny Brabin - Melbourne, previously Chair of the Division of Independent Practice.

Associate Professor Erica Frydenberg - Melbourne Uni - Educational and Developmental Psychologist

Dr Bob Montgomery - Qld, Private Practice - formerly Director of Communications

Professor Trang Thomas* - Melbourne (RMIT) - formerly Director of Science

Seven (7) nominations have been received for the three (3) General Director positions:

Mr John Alder* - Adelaide - organisational psychologist with links to community and counselling colleges

Mr Quentin Black - Adelaide - organisational & clinical psychologist - interest in public sector psychology

Mr Arthur Crook - Melbourne - formerly Director of Professional Practice; organisational psychologist, ex-Monash Caulfield

Associate Professor Neil Drew* - Perth - needs little introduction to this list - has held many positions with the Community College and earlier, Psychologists for Peace.

Professor Kenneth Greenwood - Melbourne (RMIT, ex-LaTrobe)

Ms Anne Lipzker - NSW North Coast - Co-opted to current Board because of links to regional & rural NSW

Dr Kate Moore - Melbourne, ex-Deakin Uni; current Director, formerly APS Treasurer.

For each of the above positions the number of nominations received exceeds the number of vacancies to be filled, therefore an election will be held by postal ballot, the result of which will be declared at the Society's 2007 AGM to be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, on Thursday 27 September 2007 commencing at 4.00pm.

Please remind others to vote too - feel free to adapt and circulate as you wish - without breaking any election rules of course!
