 USING ANCHORED AND UNANCHORED RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES

 

Arthur Veno, PhD




 


Arthur Veno is a long time academic who now devotes much of his time to
social activism and authoring popular books. Initially trained in
Community and Social Psychology at the University of California, San
Francisco, Art has held many varied positions in academic institutions
around Australia and Africa. He is the author of The Brotherhoods: An
inside look at Outlaw Motorcycle Clubs which reached number 3 on the
Australian Best Seller list, and is currently finishing his second book
for Constable and Robinson (UK), due for release in September 2007.  He
is well-known to community psychologists as co-author (with David
Thomas) of the seminal Australian/New Zealand textbook Psychology and
Social Change (1996, Dunsmore Press, and foundation Editor of the
journal Network (now the Australian Community Psychologist). 


 

This presentation draws on a community psychology intervention by Veno
and VU graduate Julie Van Den Eynde, PhD, that required one researcher
to become deeply immersed into the subculture of Outlaw Motorcycle Clubs
(OMCs).  Further details attached

Ballarat Rd. Metered street parking also available.
