</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt">been successful in securing a $50,000 Be Connected Capacity Building Grant, enabling the City to engage a trainer (individual or agency) to train and mentor up to 100 Digital Mentors, using materials provided by The Good
Things Foundation, during the 2019/2020 financial year. </span></p>
<p class="x_MsoPlainText" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Arial","sans-serif""> </span></p>
<p class="x_MsoPlainText" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">Be Connected is an Australian government initiative committed to increasing the confidence, skills and online safety of older Australians.
The Good Things Foundation coordinates the Be Connected Network and is managing the Grants Program. A series of grants are available to Network Partners (Australian public libraries), funding the delivery of programs and events aimed at supporting older Australians
to gain basic digital skills. </span></p>
<p class="x_MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"> </span></p>
<p class="x_MsoPlainText" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">The grant provides opportunities to upskill the digital capacity of staff within the C<span style="color:#283138">ity of Stirling,
</span>volunteers, and City of Stirling residents as Digital Mentors, who can then pass on their skills to other members of the community, particularly seniors. The grant supports
<span style="color:#283138">Stirling Libraries’ </span>objectives in building digital capacity and providing opportunities for lifelong learning.

<p class="x_MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Stirling Libraries are now recruiting for a Lead Digital Mentor on temporary contract/secondment part-time from 29 July 2019 to 18 May 2020, to deliver the Be Connected Network Partner Capacity Building
Project. This will be advertised via the City’s website later this afternoon, closing 19 July 2019. Compulsory full-day training is scheduled for 30 July 2019.
