Dear students and recent grads in Melbourne

Kathryn Hore, the University Archivist and Associate Director, Archives and Special Collections has shared details of a short-term casual archives contract.

Please consider the following opportunity and apply to the Project Lead, Katie Wood ASAP:

Casual project position at the University of Melbourne Archives
The University of Melbourne Archives is looking for an early career archivist with a particular interest in digital archiving to join us on a casual basis for the rest of 2025. We have a number of pilot projects investigating the use of AI in the archives to support accessibility (transcription of handwriting) and efficiency (developing models for metadata creation). Whilst undertaking these pilots we will be examining questions of ethics and privacy.
The position is a level 5 ($51.95/hour) with hours to be negotiated. We are looking for someone with a good understanding of the opportunities and issues raised by AI in the archives, and who is keen to begin a career in digital archiving.
Please contact Katie Wood at kathrynw at unimelb.edu.au<mailto:kathrynw at unimelb.edu.au> with a brief introduction about yourself and your interest in the position and a brief CV.

Kind regards
Bec
