The job says they want someone ‘technically skilled’. Remember there are few people out there with these skills and for those of you who’ve completed the Digital Preservation unit, you’ll have some useful insights.

They also want someone with an understanding of culturally sensitive practices. Many of you have begun learning about this in the units you’ve taken so far.

Here's the basic info …

About the Role:

As the Archivist – Digital Preservation & Systems, you’ll safeguard digital cultural heritage at the intersection of technology, archives, and Indigenous governance. Your work will ensure the integrity, accessibility, and ethical stewardship of Aboriginal collections in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Working at the intersection of technology, archives, and Indigenous governance, you will:

· Design and implement cutting-edge digital preservation systems aligned with Indigenous Data Sovereignty (IDS&G) and Cultural Intellectual Property (ICIP) principles.

· Collaborate with Aboriginal Knowledge Holdes, IT specialists, and archivists to develop sustainable, culturally grounded solutions for long-term preservation.

· Lead metadata management, risk assessment, and system integration to protect digitised and born-digital materials.

· Mentor and train stakeholders in culturally sensitive digital preservation practices, building capacity across the AHA.

This is a full time 2-years fixed term position at an HEP 7 classification with the salary range being $97,863 - $105,932 per annum.
