Hello everyone,
Hope you’re all doing well.
As you may have seen, the Information Profession is celebrating Information Literacy’s 50th birthday this year through different events, and one of them is the event organised by CAVAL<https://www.caval.edu.au/about/>, which includes:
* A series of webinars on 29, 30, and 31 October (featuring keynote speaker Dr. Alison Head, a true thought leader in IL)
* An in-person get-together in Melbourne on 30 October (spoiler: this will be an excellent opportunity for networking and discussions!)
* A birthday cake competition – you’ll bake a cake (alone or in teams), send a photo to the event organisers, and your creation will be voted on by the audience. How cool is it?
This event is a fantastic chance for you to learn more about key themes such as Advocacy, Inclusion, and Empowerment through Information Literacy - And the best part? It’s free for LIS students.
You’ll find more details about the webinars, the in-person event, and the cake competition in the attached flyer. The flyer has clickable links to the registration pages (‘register here’ and ‘RSVP here’). Just a heads up: each day is set up as its own Zoom event, so you’ll need to register for each session you’d like to attend. The ‘RSVP here’ link is for the in-person get-together in Melbourne.
I highly encourage you to join this event (I’m too planning to attend most of the talks) and take part in these great discussions on the future of information literacy – such a key concept in our profession.
Best,
Ellie
p.s. if you decide to do the cake and want to share a photo with your peers, please feel free to send it to me. 😉
