MCASI Practicum Program MCASIPrac at curtin.edu.au
Thu Jun 13 16:40:17 AWST 2024

Dear students in Sydney

Please see below for a structured volunteering opportunity, please contact Janet by email in the first instance if you are interested in participating, please attach a copy of your current resume:

The City of Sydney’s City Archives has a long running volunteer program.
We are currently doing a very large project to individually list around 30,000 photographs of the LGBTIQA+ community in Sydney from 1979-2011.
We are looking for up to 3 volunteers who may want experience in listing and describing archives.
We require each volunteer to be available in person in our offices in central Sydney for 4 hours per week to volunteer – shifts are 9am-1pm or 1-5pm.
Volunteers will be offered training and guidance but need to have really good attention to detail and be comfortable with using basic Excel.
In exchange for volunteering we offer 2 newsletters and 2 volunteer functions per year along with experience in working in a busy archive and the contacts/networks that creates.

Best wishes
Janet Villata
