Hello all ACT students,

A graduate of the Master of Information Management, Simon Underschultz, is giving a presentation on Friday, 10 May, from 12pm

Simon will be giving an art talk in the Gallery’s Research Library & Archives. His talk will focus on a series of groundbreaking performance and participatory art festivals that were held in Canberra between 1978 and 1982 titled ACT 1, ACT 2, and ACT 3. Participating artists included Bonita Ely, Mike Parr, Jill Orr, Richard Tipping, Lyndal Jones, Dale Frank, Joan Grounds, and Stelarc, among many more.

In a unique opportunity, audiences will view the original performance proposals, correspondence, newspaper articles, essays, promotional ephemera, photographs, and videos of performances. Simon will share why and how the primary sources in the ACT 1, 2 & 3 archive are preserved for future research, and provide insights into the archival process and the historical value of art archives.
