Permanent Full Time (38 hours per week) working a 5 & 6 day roster, including alternate shifts on Saturday morning and Tuesday nights (as per the Library opening hours).

About the Position:

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and qualified candidate to join the Shire of Broome in the role of Library Technician.
The Library Technician will be responsible for providing efficient and effective frontline services at the Library circulation desk and customer service centre, general administrative support and assisting with Library programs to all ages in the Community.
They will undertake duties including:

  *   Original cataloguing, uploading records from State Library or online suppliers, liaising with SLWA on supplier direct or supplier select issues, collection development for a specified area – weeding and selection, remote postal service and delivery of children’s programs.
  *   Using the online modules to locate, obtain, reserve and return reserved materials from other libraries for the Broome Library patrons.
  *   Patron driven computer lessons and assistance with early literacy programs.
  *   Collection management, deliver programs and events.
  *   Assist with various initiatives in alignment with WA Public Libraries Strategy.
  *   Assist with IT and and e-resource management.



About You:

  *   Our ideal candidate will have the ability to display and embody a positive and ‘can do’ attitude and provide a high level of customer service
  *   Developed research and analytical skills to search for resources and assist in problem solving
  *   Knowledge of Library Services and Systems, including Cataloguing
  *   Knowledge of SLWA, the State Library of West Australian Library Services and systems
  *   Previous experience with an automated library management system
  *   Qualifications or have commenced study in Diploma of Library and Information Services or related discipline in a Library related environment
