CSIRO have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Data Management Advisor.


The Data Management Advisor is responsible for supporting the planning, description, storage and sharing of research metadata, datasets and software and for encouraging improvements in research data management practice across the organisation. Information Management & Technology (IMT) provides a range of services to assist research staff to manage research outputs.  This encompasses management of research data, including images and software, support services for sharing information assets, and the management of research outputs through the institutional repositories.

The role of Communication and Information staff in CSIRO is to support the delivery of science/research through the provision of effective communication and management of information, either within or outside CSIRO, to enhance CSIRO's public image and promote its capabilities. The role may involve the storage, retrieval and protection of information. Communication and Information staff typically interact with industry groups, other government agencies, professional groups, and the general public.





Your duties will include:



  *   Supporting researchers in using CSIRO's data management and planning systems.
  *   Discussing data management workflows and practice with researchers and assist with incorporating CSIRO's data management systems into those workflows.
  *   Assisting with the development and testing of CSIRO's data management and planning systems.
  *   Generating improved solutions in work situations, trying creative ways to deal with problems and opportunities.
  *   Developing and supporting data governance initiatives.
  *   Liaising with colleagues to improve awareness of research data management initiatives.
  *   Maintaining user guides and other training materials in a variety of formats supporting data management.



Location: All IMT sites Australia wide

Salary: AU$89k - AU$101k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

Tenure: Specified term until 30/06/2024
