The Shire of Capel is located in the South West, halfway between Bunbury and Busselton. We are nestled between the beach and the forest and are one of the fastest growing coastal Shires in Australia. Job Description:
Reporting to the Library Coordinator, this part time role (maximum fixed term up to 1 December 2023) has been designed to provide general day-to-day operational library duties across our three branches (Capel, Dalyellup and Boyanup) as well as coordinating and overseeing the Shire's Archives.
The working days/hours for this role are:
Week 1:
* Wednesday, 8.40am to 5.15pm, Dalyellup
* Thursday, 8.40am to 5.15pm, Capel
* Friday, 8.40am to 5.15pm, Dalyellup
Week 2:
* Monday, 8.40am to 5.15pm, Capel
* Wednesday, 8.40am to 5.15pm, Capel
* Thursday, 8.40am to 5.15pm, Capel
* Friday, 8.40am to 5.15pm, Boyanup
Duties include:
* Processing library items, maintaining records, preparing requested items, shelving and visual merchandising.
* Maintaining records including daily statistics, financial transactions and membership records, and assisting in the interlibrary loans process.
* Undertaking original cataloguing of Shire of Capel Archives; assisting the Librarian with collection management of local history and archival collections.
* Training and instruction of staff and volunteers to ensure the delivery of programs and services.
* Supporting the Library team through positive team participation; working in other areas to assist with workload/backup.

* Diploma in Library & Information Studies (or higher) or relevant experience
* High attention to detail and strong computer skills
* Demonstrated experience cataloguing original archival material
* Strong information technology skills, including knowledge and experience of social media, print and other media platforms
* An understanding of conservation, preservation and digitisation of records
* Working With Children Check
* Drivers Licence
In addition, the following skills and experience will be highly regarded:
* Previous experience in a Public Library
* Knowledge of SLWA operations
* Experience with the use of a Library Management System (e.g. Symphony and Portfolio)
