The National Archives of Australia Western Australia Office is excited to participate in the Heritage Perth Weekend/Boorloo Kwedjang Bardip Yanginy 2022.

We're holding two events on Saturday 9 April:

Free talk: 'The merchant and the mosque'
Hear respected historian Dr Criena Fitzgerald discuss the fascinating story of Faiz Mahomet, who with his brother Tagh brought camels to the goldfields. Faiz later helped establish the Perth Mosque.
Dr Fitzgerald draws on her research in the National Archives to recount a tale of murder, betrayal and faith.
11am-12pm. Auslan interpreted.

Family activities: 'Making an impression'
See stories of Asian-Australian families in our exhibition Love, family and the White Australia Policy, and find out if you would have passed the infamous Dictation Test to be allowed in to Australia. Make your own special certificate featuring your handprint and a snap from our photo booth.
Activities for children ages 4-12 years and their guardians.
