Students need to make arrangements for leave from work and/or childcare in order to undertake the practicum. However, there may be some flexibility for exceptional cases where it is not possible to undertake the practicum full time or during the time periods outlined in the Practicum Manual. Please contact the Practicum Program Coordinator as soon as possible should you have any queries or concerns regarding the requirements noted in the Practicum Manual.

Information regarding practicum placements is available in Blackboard. If you are not reading this in Blackboard, please look on your BB home page for the section titled : My Organisations and click on the link Libraries, Archives, Records and Information Science (LARIS) Practicum Documents.

Please read the Practicum Manual very carefully as it provides detailed instructions on the application process. You must complete and return the practicum application form, a resume with study plan and the contact details spreadsheet. It is important that you read all instructions carefully and complete and return all forms correctly so as not to delay the organisation of your placement. Incomplete or incorrect forms will be returned to you for correction, which may mean missing out on your preferred placement venue.

Please take care to ensure the resume has attached, a copy of the units you have studied, are currently studying and will study, aka a study plan. Please take time to send through a resume you are proud of and that is tailored for the placement/information profession.

ALL completed documents MUST be emailed as attachments to MCASIPrac at Curtin.edu.au<mailto:MCASIPrac at Curtin.edu.au> from your Curtin student email address. Please submit the required documentation by the deadline: Friday 26 March, 2021.

If you wish to apply for equivalency from, or variation to, the practicum placement based on your work experience, you must submit an application by Friday 26 March, 2021. Please refer to the 'Equivalency and Variations' section of the Practicum Manual for the criteria and guidelines for applications. If applying for an equivalency, you must enrol in the relevant unit anyway as there are other coursework requirements to complete.

If you have concerns about any aspect of your practicum application after reading the Practicum Manual, or are unsure whether you need to undertake a practicum after reading this email and the Practicum Manual, please do not hesitate to contact Bec Shillington at MCASIPrac at Curtin.edu.au<mailto:MCASIPrac at Curtin.edu.au>
