About the Positions

The Casual  Library Assistant role assists the Librarians and Branch Librarians in providing a seamless professional City Libraries experience.

The current Library Locations are below. Applicants will be required to work at all these library locations and regions as required, subject to your weekly availability.

Helensvale, Runaway Bay, Upper Coomera.
Broadbeach, Nerang, Southport, Bundall.
Coolangatta, Burleigh Heads, Burleigh Waters, Elanora, Robina.

We are open 7 days a week and shifts would be offered for all days Mon - Sun

 Key Deliverables of the Position (Full training will be provided)


  *   Contribute to a positive customer experience by proactively welcoming all customers and assisting the customer in satisfying the reason for their visit.
  *   Contact Tracing for Customers (Covid address registering of visits).
  *   Proactively promote to all customers the breadth and depth of the physical and eLibrary (on-line) collections.
  *   Understand and perform all library duties according to our WH&S and COVID-safe requirements.
  *   Represent the City Library Service and embody the Corporate Values in a professional manner.
  *   Shelving of resources.

Rates of pay:

The current rate of pay for Casual Library Assistants is $34.89/hr (Inclusive of the 25% casual loading)

For those applicants under 21 the junior rates of pay would be as follows (Inclusive of the 25% casual loading)
Age 20 - $31.40 per hour
Age19 - $27.91 per hour
Age 18 - $24.42 per hour
Age 17 - $20.93 per hour

As part of our selection process, you will be required to undertake a one-way video interview via SparkHire<https://www.sparkhire.com/tour>, and/or a face to face interview or virtual interview via Microsoft Teams or Skype. You will also be required to undertake police checks, working with children checks, employment history checks, qualification checks and drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Australian Standards and Council's procedures. Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle required.
