Hi all students,
Congratulations on getting toward the end of the study period. I feel really proud at this time of the semester, when I see students producing work that shows a real understanding of our discipline… a lot of hard work has happened to get there.
Now is a good time to consider your study/work/life/family/hobbies/just-being-me balance, and think about whether you would like to study fewer, or more, units each study period. And to think about support available for next semester.
I am happy to chat about this with you, and the Curtin Wellbeing advisory officers are also a great place to start: https://students.curtin.edu.au/personal-support/counselling-guidance/wellbeing/
Could you please fill in a DIY study plan and return it to me if you have not yet.
Students always studying four units per study period in Sem1/SP1 and Sem2/SP3, who pass all units, do not have to do this. If you have already filled in a DIY study plan with me, and do not need to change your plan, then you do not need to do it again.
All other students should have worked with me to create a study plan listing when you will enrol in which units. This includes OUA students who have talked with OUA advisors.
Not all units are available in every delivery, and some have prerequisites. You also need to plan when you will complete your practicum(s).
Please:
1. Download the relevant study plan from Download LARIS DIY Study Plans<http://infostudies.org/units/studyplans/download-diy-study-plans/> page. PASSWORD (in all capitals, with punctuation) is LARIS*DIY
2. Follow the instructions to ensure that every unit has a Year/Study Period next to it (e.g. 2020 Sem 1)
3. Email it back to k.greenhill at curtin.edu.au
Often it takes a bit of backward and forward to finalise the plan, but it is essential to do so.
It is marking season right now, so it may be a couple of weeks before I contact you back about your plan, but I will try to look at them in breaks… and certainly will be in touch before Semester Two/SP3 starts.
Studying is quite an intense experience, so I hope you enjoy the upcoming break and have some wonderful downtime. Congratulations again on getting to here.
Cheers,
Kathryn Greenhill
