Subject: [WAIN] NLS9 bursaries - applications close 29 March 2019

The New Librarians' Symposium<http://nls9.com.au/> is committed to creating an event which brings together a diverse range of students, new graduates and early career professionals from all around Australia and New Zealand. As part of this, NLS9 is able to offer bursaries to eligible applicants<http://nls9.com.au/bursaries/> to cover the cost of conference registration.

When and where is NLS9?

NLS9 will be held on 5 - 7 July 2019, in Adelaide, South Australia. Workshops and tours are held on Friday 5 July (successful applicants are welcome to register for these at their own cost).

What is included?

The bursary will cover the cost of registration to attend NLS9 on 6-7 July, including entry to the Saturday night social event. It does not include travel or accommodation costs, or registration for workshops and tours on Friday 5 July.

Who can apply?

You can apply for a bursary if you identify as any of the following:
* Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
*         Australian rural residents
*         LGBTQI+ community
* Interstate LIS students (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, NT, TAS, WA)
* Interstate new graduates (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, NT, TAS, WA)
*         International LIS students
*         International new graduates
*         South Australian LIS student
*         South Australian new graduates
*         People living with disabilities
*         People experiencing financial difficulties
* People volunteering in the GLAM sector
How can you apply?

Collaborate, Deviate, Innovate is the theme for NLS9. To apply for a bursary you will need to address the following question: "How do you collaborate, deviate or innovate in your work, and how will attending NLS9 help you do more of this in your career?" In the spirit of our theme, we want you to decide how you would like to present your answer! In addition to filling out this form, you could make a video, record a song, compose a haiku, write a short answer response, or submit your own innovative idea to demonstrate your enthusiasm and understanding of the theme.

Bursary conditions

Successful applicants will be required to find a way to share the knowledge and experiences that they have gained from attending NLS9. This could be through writing an article for ALIA's incite magazine, creating a blog or vlog post that NLS9 can share on social media, or hosting an event back at your workplace. Got a better idea for a knowledge sharing activity? We'd love to hear it! You can make a suggestion as part of your application.

Further information

Please note that all successful applicants will be responsible for their own travel, transport, accommodation, and any other expenses incurred during the symposium. If you have any questions about applying for a bursary for NLS9, please email bursaries at nls9.com.au<mailto:bursaries at nls9.com.au>.
Applications close 29 March at 5pm. You can find the application form and more information here<http://nls9.com.au/bursaries/>.
Kind regards,
Sienna
