Subject: [WAIN] DIGITAL ASSIMILATION - RESISTANCE IS FUTILE! - Invitation to WAIN subscribers to the 2018 Geoffrey Bolton Lecture
Dear WAIN,
In an age of data breaches, information privacy concerns, digital disruption and apparent societal dystopia, being able to make, keep, find, and re-use information is more important than it has ever been. The 2018 Geoffrey Bolton Lecture will be addressing these and other related issues and please see the invitation attached to the Lecture, which will be held on Monday evening 12 November 2018 at the State Theatre Centre, corner William and Roe Streets Perth. The topic of the lecture is Digital Assimilation: Resistance is Futile! and it will be delivered by Richard Foy, New Zealand's Chief Archivist. With a background in information, software systems, technology architecture and digital strategy, he is a design-savvy futurist promoting a transformational vision of digital technology. He is also a Star Trek fan and will speak about why the keeping of archives encourages responsibility and accountability, and will help us achieve maximum warp drive into the future.
This is a free event but you need to RSVP at events at sro.wa.gov.au<mailto:events at sro.wa.gov.au> to attend.
Kind regards
Gerard Foley
