<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:11.0pt">It is that time again when I am looking for your support to assist in the selection and recruitment of mentors for next semesters incoming students. Feedback has demonstrated that new students
find having a mentor from their area of study very comforting and that it goes a long way in increasing the likelihood of students continuing in the course.</span><span lang="EN-GB"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:11.0pt">Engaging with the mentoring programme and the mentors from your course more closely will give you support when promoting and running extra and co-curricular activities. For example, mentors from
the Art area assist with running an Orientation activity and from Theatre Arts with running a welcome BBQ for incoming students. I think we can go further with engaging our mentors in individual majors far more than we are now, but we can only do so if we
have representation from each major in the school.</span><span lang="EN-GB"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:36.0pt"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:11.0pt">I hope the semester is going well. I am currently seeking interest from any of you who might be interested in mentoring a group of next year’s first years. Ideally,
we have a few mentors in Theatre Arts so that each mentor has about 10-15 mentees.</span><span lang="EN-GB"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:36.0pt"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:11.0pt">Ultimately, your role is to make our new Theatre Arts students welcome and feel part of the Hayman community. To do so you will show your mentees around on Orientation
Day, send them regular emails throughout semester with tips on how to navigate the different things that come up being a new student, and host them at our semester welcome BBQ. You can also organise catch ups such as attending Hayman shows or whatever you
