<p class="MsoNormal">Nedlands Library is seeking expressions of interest from students enrolled in Library and Information Management courses to participate in a project to create an Online Historical Photograph Database for the City of Nedlands Local Studies
Collection.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">This project work is an opportunity to build up professional skills through volunteer work.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The database our Library is using for this project is OCLC ContentDM.<b><o:p></o:p></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The work required from Library and Information Management students is primarily data entry and cataloguing photographs using a range of resources including old Accession Registers, donor copyright documents and the Library’s AMLIB catalogue.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Students would cross-reference these resources, confirming that cataloguing is correct and then use this information to edit Excel spreadsheets for uploading photograph metadata to the Online ContentDM database.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The students would also have the opportunity to research topics of local historical interest.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Nedlands Library would provide initial training in AMLIB modules and ContentDM functions, but after training is complete, the students are required to work largely unsupervised.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The students would need to commit to one or two days a week volunteer placement over a three month period.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The work would need to be undertaken between August-October 2014.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">As a volunteer arrangement, the Library can accommodate up to six students as the students would work in rotating shifts.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The Library can provide morning tea facilities and financial reimbursement for the cost of transport to and from the Library.<o:p></o:p></p>
