Subject: Jean Arnot 2018 Fellowship - Submissions Open

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing on behalf of the State Library of New South Wales to ask for your assistance in promoting the 2018 Jean Arnot Fellowship to your students. The fellowship will be awarded to a female librarian or female student of librarianship for an outstanding original paper of no more than 5000 words on any aspect of librarianship. An award of $1000 will be presented to the winner at the annual Jean Arnot Memorial Luncheon at NSW Parliament House, Sydney on 21 May, 2018.

Papers focusing on innovative solutions to contemporary library issues and services are encouraged. Papers should demonstrate original thought and research. The paper should have been written within the last twelve months and should not have been previously published, but can have been delivered as a conference paper or seminar. There is no mandated citation style: authors are advised to use that with which they are most comfortable. Submissions close at 5pm on Friday, 20 April 2018.

The fellowship is named in honour of the late Jean Fleming Arnot, MBE, FLAA, a former staff member of the State Library of New South Wales, who retired as head cataloguer in 1968 after a distinguished career of over 47 years of service. Miss Arnot was active in women's organisations and a pioneer in the campaign for equal pay for women.

Submissions should be made via the State Library of NSW's website on the Jean Arnot Fellowship Page: http://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/fellowships/jean-arnot-memorial-fellowship

Any questions should be directed to:

Mitchell Librarian, Education and Scholarship Officer scholarship at sl.nsw.gov.au / (02) 9273 1910

Kind regards,

Melissa Brooks
