I echo Paul’s comments. I would love to attend this, being a sometime health librarian around academic commitments, but am relieving in a NZ clinical education/health library unit at that time – because there is a dearth of appropriately qualified people locally! It is a fascinating field and one that uses advanced reference, research and literature searching skills; often an early adopter of new information technologies in an environment that takes its clinical and allied health learning opportunities seriously ie provides good support for ongoing professional development for everyone in the mix including librarians. It can also be one of the higher paid library roles.

Dear DIS readers,
As some of you may be aware, Health Libraries Australia (HLA) are holding their Professional Development Days for 2017 at Curtin University on Thursday 13 July (presentations) and Friday 14 July (workshops) 2017. Please find program and other details attached.
Students are very welcome to attend particularly of course if you have an interest in becoming a health librarian. A recent national census of the health library workforce showed that for every four newly recruited health librarians, there are ten due to retire in the next five years!
<https://www.alia.org.au/events/15286/health-libraries-australia-pd-day-perth> Registration for students for the two days is: $90.91 (ALIA member) and $104.55 (Non-ALIA member).
I strongly support the value you will receive from this excellent opportunity to learn more about the work of health librarians in both the academic and hospital settings.
Regards
Paul
