  *   Salary from $73,593 to $79,542 PA

The Wanneroo Library Service is one of Perth’s largest library networks, providing services to people living in bushland, wetlands, urban and rural areas, in addition to 32kms of coastline. The service consists of four branches and is focused on the delivery of excellent customer service, while encompassing a commitment to ongoing professional development and a dynamic workplace.

A fantastic career opportunity exists in the Library Leadership Team for a Literacy & Learning Specialist. A key leadership role with responsibility for integrated learning and support for the Library team, you are responsible for providing library services, information literacy and learning skills support for staff and the community. You will provide high-quality, customer-focused information services to the Wanneroo community and develop partnerships with key stakeholders within the community.  We are seeking candidates with a deep understanding of the learning role of public libraries in the community and experience in engaging and leading customer-centred teams.

The key areas of responsibility are:

  *   To lead the on-going planning, implementation and monitoring of the Cultural Development Unit’s Learning Framework.
  *   Lead a coordinated community-led approach to literacy and learning services across the City.
  *   Facilitate and manage strategic partnerships and networks with and between internal and external stakeholders to build a culture of learning.
  *   Lead the training and development of an across-service team to deliver core literacy and learning activities.
  *   Plan and organise key learning activities and events to encourage community participation if life-long learning.
  *   Plan, manage and implement projects to successfully deliver outcomes in literacy and learning.
  *   Advocate for and support the expansion and development of new learning opportunities in the City.
  *   Identify funding opportunities, prepare submissions and manage grant funding.
  *   Manage administrative elements of the position including budgets, statistics collation and analysis, reporting, etc.
The ideal candidate will possess:

  *   Tertiary qualifications in Education, Library & Information Science, related discipline or equivalent experience.
  *   Proven knowledge and experience in successfully developing and implementing literacy learning programs.
  *   Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively negotiate, influence, build and manage relationships as a member of a team and with internal and external stakeholders.
  *   Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, set priorities and organise work in an effective manner.
  *   Advanced analytical and problem solving skills with demonstrated experience in achieving strategic outcomes.
  *   Extensive experience in the efficient utilisation of information systems and technology.
  *   A positive, proactive approach to change and a willingness to work in any service unit across the City should it be operationally required.

Applicants must be willing to participate in a drug & alcohol test and may be required to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment to determine their fitness to carry out the duties of this position.
