Hi,

I would encourage you to apply for the QULOC graduate programme if you graduated this year, or will finish the course this year. They have just announced that the duration will change from 12 months to 6 months and sent out the update below.

They have also extended the date to apply to 14 November, as there has been a bit of an issue with downloading some of the paperwork.

Cheers,

Kathryn Greenhill

Subject: Update: QULOC Graduate Librarian Program 2017

Dear all,

Several QULOC libraries have had to withdraw from the Graduate Librarian Program for 2017. The University Librarians are, however, committed to the program and have voted to continue it, although the successful candidate can be given only a six-month placement, not twelve months.

We have also become aware that some applicants have had trouble downloading information on how to apply for the program. The technical problems have now been resolved, and the information is available to download from http://www.quloc.org.au/file/view/QULOC%20Graduate%20Librarian%20Program%202017.pdf/594524942/QULOC%20Graduate%20Librarian%20Program%202017.pdf.

Given the above, the closing date for applications has been extended to Friday 14th October. Students who have already submitted an application do not need to reapply, but may wish to reconsider now that the placement duration has been reduced.

Could you please circulate this update to your contacts.

Kind regards,
Alison

Subject: QULOC Graduate Librarian Program 2017

Dear colleagues,

The Queensland University Libraries Office of Cooperation (QULOC) is offering a new Librarian graduate the opportunity to work as a Librarian in its member institutions as part of the QULOC Graduate Librarian Program during 2016.

Would you please circulate the attached program guidelines: this document is a call for expressions of interest to Librarianship students who graduated in Semester 1, 2016 or will be graduating in Semester 2, 2016. The program is now entering its seventh year and continues to attract a high calibre of librarians.

Our experience of the QULOC Graduate Librarian Program has been very positive for both host institutions and the new Librarians involved in the program.

The attached document outlines the program and the selection process involved. There is some financial assistance available to eligible applicants via the QULOC Graduate Librarian Scholarship if they are required to commute or temporarily relocate to take up the position. Additional information is available at http://www.quloc.org.au/Graduate+Librarian+Program

I have also attached a poster advertising the program.

Applications close 5.00pm, Friday 7th October, 2016.

If you have any queries about the position, please don’t hesitate to contact me, as the current Convenor of the QULOC Staffing Issues Working Party.

QULOC News is published twice per year, highlighting QULOC activities (meetings and events) or newsworthy occurrences at member institutions. Issue #18 (September 2015) was themed around ‘Working Regionally’ and includes articles from staff working at regional campuses of QULOC member institutions, highlighting the benefits of working outside the major cities. All issues of QULOC News are available from the website at http://quloc.wikispaces.com/QULOC+News

Kind regards,
Alison
