Good morning all,
I am currently undertaking research which will be published in the
International Journal of Arts and Sciences in 2017, and presented in the
Education stream of their multidisciplinary conference in November 2016.
The resulting paper will include a case study of a number of Library
Makerspaces. In order to collect data for the case studies, I am calling
for volunteers to contribute to an anonymous survey about their Library
Makerspace. This project has been approved by the Edith Cowan University
Human Research Ethics Committee.
The aim of this project is to propose how extended cataloguing processes in
Library Makerspaces can influence STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering,
Arts and Mathematics) engagement. The only participation stage involved in
this project is the anonymous online survey, which will take approximately
15-20 minutes to complete.
The survey will collect the location of your Library and associated
demographics, however the name of your Library and your personal details -
such as name, address, age, email address - will NOT be collected. The
survey is 100% online, anonymous and completely voluntary. You do not have
to be a Librarian in order to participate, however having involvement in
your Library Makerspace, or it’s implementation, is essential. Please feel
free to forward this email with the survey link on to colleagues who may be
interested.
If you wish to participate, please click on the link below.

In the initial section of the survey you are required to read through a
Participant Information Letter, and read and accept an Informed Consent
Document before providing your answers.
Please find the Title of the paper below, along with my details. If you
have any questions or require any further information about the research
project, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Title: Hacking the Catalogue: Developing extended cataloguing processes in
Library Makerspaces for shareable, trackable & accessible dynamic resources
supporting STEAM education.
