The Curtin University Library supports Curtin's teaching, learning and research by providing scholarly resources, services, spaces and facilities to the University community, comprising over 44,000 students and over 3,000 staff.
The University Library has two opportunities, a 3 month full-time and a 6 month part-time opportunity for two Library Technicians:
3 month, full-time Library Technician
Are you a Library Technician with strong customer focus experience within a service environment?
As a Library Technician in the Enquiry and Engagement Services team you will work closely with clients by assisting them to access and use Library services and facilities. You will provide support to Resources Delivery including helping to oversee facilities, collections and providing support to the Enquiry desk.
To be successful, you have completed a relevant diploma with some work experience and/or eligibility for Library Technician membership of the Australian Library and Information Association. Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing with a wide variety of people with cross-cultural sensitivity and the ability to co-ordinate group activities and work effectively within a team situation is essential. Demonstrated computer skills especially with Integrated Library Management Systems and database applications are essential.
6 month, part-time Library Technician
Are you a Library Technician with a strong desire to provide open access to Curtin research publications?
In this role you will provide open access to Curtin research publications and theses via Curtin's Institutional Repository, espace at Curtin, ensure copyright compliance and, when required, communicate with publishers about archiving copyright permission of research publications. You will also respond to client inquiries via email or phone; participate in discussions on continuous improvements of repository operations; and develop and update procedures.
To be successful, you will have completed a relevant diploma with some relevant work experience and/or eligibility for Library Technician membership of the Australian Library and Information Association. Demonstrated knowledge of a range of scholarly information resources and the ability to access these resources regardless of format; and demonstrated knowledge of the processes required to obtain scholarly information resources (e.g. acquisitions) and to provide access to these resources (e.g. indexing, cataloguing) is required. Demonstrated computer skills especially with Integrated Library Management Systems and database applications is essential. A demonstrated understanding of institutional repository processes and basic knowledge of copyright would also be advantageous.
