Hi Everyone

Could you please pass on this information to your networks

Thank you

Saturday 9 July is Constitution Day. The Australian Constitution, passed by the British Parliament, became law on 9 July 1900 when Queen Victoria signed the Royal Commission of Assent. Both documents are held in the National Archives Federation Gallery in Canberra and will be on display this Saturday for public viewing.

At the end of NAIDOC week and a year out from the proposed constitutional referendum, the National Archives is taking the opportunity to focus the 2016 Constitution Day Speakers Forum and family activities around the theme of Indigenous recognition in the constitution.

Our annual Constitution DaySpeakers Forum is on the topic of Indigenous recognition and Australia's identity - Why is it important? Our guest speakers are Mr Stan Grant, Journalist, Host of The Point and Member of the Referendum Council and Ms Shireen Morris, Policy adviser and constitutional reform research fellow at Cape York Institute. Paul House, a local Ngambri custodian will be delivering the Welcome to Country. The Forum will be moderated by Paul Barclay from ABC Big Ideas.

This event is now booked out...but don't fret, you can still catch the live webcast! Register for the webcast at http://www.webcasts.com.au/naa090716/ and join the discussion at @naagovau #ConDay16
