Sharing this sad news about our dear ASA colleague and friend, Dr Sigrid McCausland.

We thank Sigrid for her many contributions to our profession and for her active involvement in various professional committees, like the ASA.

Please remember Sigrid in your thoughts and prayers.

Subject: [Ica-l] In memoriam Dr Sigrid McCausland

Dear Colleagues

I am very sad to share the news with colleagues and friends that Dr Sigrid McCausland, Secretary of the ICA Section for Archival Education and Training and also a regular member of the Archives and Human Rights Group, died this morning, 30th November, in Brisbane. Sigrid died of a rare abdominal cancer which progressed much faster than expected.

Dr McCausland was Senior Lecturer in Archival Science at Charles Sturt University, Australia.  Earlier in her career she served as University Archivist to both the Australian National University and the University of Technology Sydney. She has also served part-time as Education Officer for the Australian Society of Archivists, 2006-2009 and chaired the ASA's Course Recognition Committee 1997-2002.

International educators and the Australian archival community have lost a wonderful colleague, far too soon. Recently, Sigrid was honored with a Fellowship by the Australian Society of Archivists. The citation for the award, which she richly deserved for her contribution to the profession over many years in many ways, is here:
