LIBRARY & HERITAGE ASSISTANT
Casual basis
$32.04 - $38.82 per hour including loading
An exciting opportunity exists for a customer-focussed and enthusiastic individual to join our team at the Ruth Faulkner Public Library. As a Library & Heritage Assistant you will assist in providing an efficient and effective library & information service to the community.
Located close to local shops and amenities, the Ruth Faulkner Library caters for a diverse range of people and groups and provides a wide variety of services. As such, the successful candidate will require good interpersonal skills and a proven ability to communicate with a wide range of people and groups to ensure a high level of customer service is provided. Organisational skills and a keen eye for detail will also be highly valued.
Duties include:
* Counter duties such as borrower enrolments, issues, returns and reservations of library material.
* Attending to public enquiries, both in person and over the phone as required.
* Shelving and display of library materials.
* Assisting with processing and repairs of stock.
* Assisting with various activities arranged and organised within the library.
* Basic cataloguing.
* Use of the Library Management system, interlibrary loans and reservation modules.
Casual hours of work are generally between 8:00am and 8:30pm, Monday to Thursday, 8:00am and 5:00pm on Friday's and 8:30am and 12:00pm on Saturday's, as required to provide coverage during periods of staff leave and absences. Hourly rate of pay incorporates the appropriate casual loading and as such, leave provisions under the Award does not apply.
