[Hum-DIS] Job adverts

Hi Deb

For various reasons (not to do with Curtin, not to do with looking for a job :-)) I follow the job advert world in the background.

If you are a subscriber to WAIN, you will get all the adverts that are posted there (also those that are forwarded from WAIN to Curtin students via Hum-DIS as is the case here].

But there are organisations who don't know about WAIN/choose to use more mainstream advertising eg Seek (seek.com.au). Seek posts daily ads to your Inbox. You need to set up your saved search strategy to suit your situation [Perth? Regional WA? Australia? etc]. 

Then...WA state government library roles are detailed on jobs.wa.gov.au. It seems inconsistent as to which of these gets to other spaces, some are duplicated on Seek or WAIN, some not. But it deals well with truncation; Use librar* and you will see unexpected but relevant opportunities. 

ALIA has a weekly RecruitLIS listserv sectioned by state. On the whole, there is nothing much for WA [perhaps WA people not happy to pay for the advert] .

I used to think LIS specialist recruitment agencies were the go; but have since discovered they default to using the mainstream if seeking specialist skills ie pretty much you will get there anyway; but there are a couple worth registering with if one is seeking incidental/casual work. 

And then…there are all the unadvertised vacancies ie be part of the community you want to be part of.

I'm wondering how I can see all the current job advertisements on WAIN? Can you direct me to a web page. I am a subscriber to WAIN and get emails regarding potential employment occasionally but I would like to look at the list of advertised vacancies if I can.
