We are seeking an enthusiastic Library Assistant to join our friendly and experienced Library team.  This role will on a part-time basis, working 8 hours per week, either as a full 8 hour day, or two 4 hour days.  This role will be reporting to our Knowledge Manager and working very closely with our Library Technician.

The duties of this role include, but are not limited to:


*         Filing new loose-leaf page updates within the library's hardcopy publications to ensure that they are up-to-date for our legal staff.

*         Photocopying parts of our library collection and visiting the Law Library at the Supreme Court of Western Australia, State Library of WA and other library collections from time-to-time to access items in their collections.

*         Collection maintenance including returning and shelving items that were on loan.

*         The opportunity to be trained in the Library Technician's duties and in carrying out legal reference and research work to assist our library team, during busy periods.  The opportunity may also arise to carry out relief work when library staff are on leave.

About you

This role would ideally suit a library studies student who is looking to gain practical experience that can fit around their study schedule.

You will have a keen eye for detail, strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with employees at all levels, the ability to work independently with a high level of initiative and have the passion for working in a library and for furthering your library career.

No prior experience working in a law firm is needed, however previous experience working in a library will be looked upon favourably, as well as an interest in working in a law library environment.
