We currently have a great opportunity for a flexible, organized and enthusiastic Library Technician to join the busy and friendly team at our Perth Library on a part time basis (18 hrs per week), commencing immediately.

The main objective of the role is to provide a high quality library services and resources, both on campus and on-line. As you will be ensuring the maintenance of the collection and providing support to students and staff, your organization, communication and customer service skills will be second to none. In addition to day-to-day customer service and circulation duties, there will be project work and some urgent, ad-hoc tasks.


The primary responsibilities include:

*           Provide a high quality client service to all users (students, academics and staff) both on campus and on-line

*           Maintain the order of the library collection to allow effective use by users

*           Processing of new materials

*           Provide research and reference services to all users

*           Troubleshoot library equipment (photocopiers, computers etc) to allow uninterrupted service

*           Assist the Campus Librarian with day to day operations

*           Liaise with the National Librarian on resourcing and HR issues

*           Encourage continued feedback from library users

*           Other duties as directed


To be successful in the role you will have the following skills, knowledge and experience:

*                Diploma in Library & Information Studies
*                Eligibility for membership of the Australian Library & Information Association

*                Excellent oral and written communication skills

*                Good IT skills (MS Office) and experience with on-line databases and digital resources

*                Customer focussed approach

*                Excellent knowledge of SaaS Library Management System (preferred)

*                Ability to work on your own and as part of a team (both will be required)

Working pattern: Mondays and Wednesdays 10.00am to 6.00pm and half day Friday

Contract Type: Fixed Term (12 months), Part Time contract (0.5 FTE - 18 hrs per week)

Salary: $21381.50 per annum pro rata plus 9.5% superannuation (Full-time equivalent salary is $42,763) + benefits + discounted rates on a variety of natural therapies, treatments and massage
