The State Library of Western Australia seeks to treasure the stories of Western Australia, champion literacy and learning, cultivate creative ideas and lead the development of the Western Australian public library network.
Conditions
The Graduate Librarian pool will provide an opportunity for recently qualified Librarians to work in any of the Library's business areas, supporting the day-to-day operations of the Library by providing reference, general enquiry and resource services to clients. Opportunities will be available for casual, fixed-term and permanent, part-time and full-time appointments.
The pool will operate for a period of 18 months from the first appointment. Suitable applicants will be placed in the pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur.
The Library is subject to a 7 day rotating roster including weekends and evenings.
A current (within 6 months) National Police Clearance Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department of Culture and the Arts Police Record Screening Policy.
Location
This position is located in central Perth within the Cultural Centre hub close to the bustling café, tourist and shopping districts.
Job Description
Graduate Librarians will be offered a supportive environment in which to develop their skills and abilities on the job.
Graduate Librarians may be placed in any area of the State Library and their duties may include: Responding to client queries or providing assistance through service points in the Library, using technology to make the collections and resources of the Library available to the community, contributing to team activities that ensure the delivery of quality library services and the preparation, preservation, support, provision, procurement and distribution of resources across the State.
Note: Whilst this is a development opportunity for recently graduated librarians, it is not a formal graduate program as offered by the State Library in previous years.
