Subject: urgent - 2014 University of Melbourne Library Professional Cadetship Program (2 positions now available and close 2 March 2014)
Dear ALL,
I hope you are all able to assist us!
In the past, some of you have kindly assisted us in promoting our Library cadetship program to your Library and Information students by emailing them of this opportunity.
We are now embarking on our 6th round of a Library Professional Cadetship program in 2014-16 (2 positions on offer) which will run for 2 years until April 2016. Closing date for applications is 2 March, 2014.
These positions are now advertised via Seek, The University of Melbourne Human Resources Careers website and the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
Further position description and website details can be found at our University of Melbourne Careers site at:
http://jobs.unimelb.edu.au/jobDetails.asp?sJobIDs=881914&sKeywords=library+professional+cadetship&lWorkTypeID=&lLocationID=&sJobNo=library+professional+cadetship&lCategoryID=&lPayScaleID=&stp=AW&sLanguage=en
We would be most grateful to call on your assistance again by promoting and informing your students of this opportunity as soon as possible.
Please let me know if things have changed from your end and so that I can update my contact list.
Alternatively, please feel free to pass this email on to more appropriate contacts within your library schools or anyone that you think might be interested!
I have created the below details to send to your students to help speed up this process with all relevant recruitment details given the cadetship program is now open until 2 March, 2014.
Are you able to send this out on our behalf to your LIS student?
Many thanks to you all for your continued support.
All my contact details are noted below if you have any further questions.
Regards, Sandra Woods

Dear 2014 Students,
Are you studying postgraduate qualifications in librarianship this year?
If so, you may be interested in a ‘Library Professional Cadet’ position with The University of Melbourne Library (2 positions available). Closing date for applications is: 2 March, 2014.
The cadetships offers a full time position (fixed term) for up to 2 years until 10 April 2016.
Cadets selected into the cadetship program will have recently completed undergraduate degrees other than librarianship and want to pursue a career in librarianship.
In 2014, preference will be given to applications with degrees relevant to Education or Biosciences, including veterinary and biomedical sciences, although applicants with other degrees in other disciplines may also apply.
During this time, cadets particularly draw upon their knowledge and skills from their undergraduate qualification to enhance the quality of library services as well as developing breadth of experience through placements and rotations into other library areas, project work and working in different teams whilst undertaking part time study in librarianship.
This is a fabulous opportunity to be part of a dynamic world class organisation whilst gaining practical professional library experience, a qualification and be paid whilst doing all this!
We now look forward to hearing soon from 2014 cadetship applicants.
