Hi Christine

As discussed could you please advertise this to the students wishing to work in a public library.

We are seeking expressions of interest from students who will complete their library and information studies this year and would be interested in working as a Casual Librarian for the City of Cockburn. The work could be quite varied with the possibility of working on Readers' Advisory Services desk, organizing and presenting library events for both adults and children and also  working in the library technology area. Library 2.0 knowledge and skills would be an advantage.

We currently have two Casual Librarians who work a few desk rosters per week and relieve for staff who are on leave. We will need at least one more Casual Librarian soon as we need cover for staff who will be taking long service leave. It is possible that we will need to employ a Librarian on a temporary contract near Christmas time.

As a Casual Librarian you can be expected to work at all three of our libraries, Spearwood, Coolbellup and Success (at the Gateways Shopping Centre). We expect to have a new Library built late next year which means that there will then be opportunities for permanent Librarian positions.
