Expressions of interest are sought for someone willing to fill the position of Public Library Liaison Librarian at the State Library of Western Australia for a period of approx 1 month from 22 September 2011 to 21 October 2011.

Public Library Liaison Librarian

Position Number: 12239

 

Period of Vacancy: Approx 1 month.

OTHER CONDITIONS: This position is full time, located at the State Library.  The Public Library Development and Strategy team provides support and leadership to Western Australia's public libraries in achieving a vision of a sustainable and responsive network of vibrant and connected well-resourced, free public libraries that are hubs of community life. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

¨       Develop a range of structured training packages to meet the needs of public library staff throughout WA

¨       Identify the needs of public libraries and develop programs and services to meet these needs.

¨       Advise and prepare reports and submissions to government and other bodies.

 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA: 

In one page, please explain why you have the skills, knowledge or ability to undertake the role.  Specifically consider the following criteria in your application.

 

1.       Eligibility for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.

2.       Experience in providing library services to the public.

3.       Demonstrated ability to identify client needs and expectations and provide flexible and responsive service.

4.       Proven high-level interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to liaise, negotiate and consult with a wide range of individuals with differing requirements.

 

Special Conditions: Required to work rostered hours for a 7-day per week operation including evenings and weekends
