Breakfast seminar: Information overload and Sharepoint 2010

 

The EDRMS elements of Sharepoint 2010 are relatively new in the records and information management landscape, but are being implemented as part of a range of solutions to manage digital information and address information overload. As you consider that next business case or comment on proposals to solve business problems, it is essential to be aware of what Sharepoint 2010 offers. Increasingly records management solutions are being implemented as part of solutions to business problems rather than as stand-alone systems, so it is essential to be aware of options, in addition to RIM solutions. The more we know about it, the more we can influence strategic level information management decisions being made in our organisations. Can you afford not to know more?

 

Domenic Chiera a solution specialist from Microsoft in Perth and information management consultant Andrew Warland and will take participants on a journey through elements of Sharepoint 2010 that most relate to EDRMS. Domenic and Andrew have taken time out of their busy schedules to present this seminar - with Andrew travelling across Australia to Perth.

 

Domenic Chiera will firstly illustrate EDRMS functionality available in Sharepoint 2010. Andrew Warland will then talk from a practitioner's perspective at a city council. The title of the presentation is: "Managing records in Sharepoint 2010" and will cover the following:

- The current RM environment and applications

- The relationship between IT and IM/RM 

- Why did we look at Sharepoint 2010 and not Sharepoint 2007 for RM

- What we know Sharepoint 2010 cannot do

- Integration, or rather the relationship between Sharepoint 2010 and TRIM

- Overview of our model for managing digital records in Sharepoint 2010

- Where we see the future of RM and why understanding why users like Facebook is important
