Dear students
Some of you have been emailing us about the return of your assignments
and the appearance of your marks on the Blackboard grade centre. There
will be a delay in returning some assignments to students as we are
dealing with potential plagiarism issues.
Curtin University's recently implemented plagiarism policy requires that
students observe academic integrity and academics are required to report
plagiarism to a new system. For those in their first year at Curtin
there is a balance between this requirement with the fact that first
year students are still learning about academic integrity - but are
required to take it very seriously. And for those beyond first year or
in our graduate programs, the need to avoid plagiarising the work of
others becomes more acute and something that all students have been made
aware of.
***Please read through the following resources and ensure that you
understand the contents.***
1. We have made reference to the student Academic Integrity booklet in
all unit outlines: Curtin University. (2011). Academic integrity at
Curtin: Student Guidelines for avoiding plagiarism. Bentley, Perth,
Western Australia: Curtin University. Retrieved from
http://academicintegrity.curtin.edu.au/global/studentbook.cfm
2. AND make sure that before you submit any academic work for marking
you have looked at the one-page checklist available at the back of the
booklet and downloadable from here:
http://academicintegrity.curtin.edu.au/global/checklist.cfm
3. AND each time you submit work, you sign a cover sheet that declares
that you are familiar with this, so allowances will not be made if you
do not follow the guidelines.
4. AND make sure that you use the library's APA6 citation guide to
correctly cite and reference all material for your units:
Curtin University Library. (n.d.). APA 6th-ed - Referencing:

We will make every effort to return your work as soon as possible.
