Good morning,

 

The City of South Perth has a vacancy for a part-time Collection
Management & Systems Librarian.  The library service is experiencing a
busy and challenging period preparing for the opening of the new library
building scheduled for early 2011. 

 

We are looking for a person who is innovative and creative, with an
ability to conceptualise and realise significant library and information
service outcomes.  Your role will involve the maintenance of library
collections, stock selection and database management, reference and
information provision, and the cataloguing and classification of items.

 

Suitably qualified people are encouraged to apply.

 

Selection Criteria

 

*         Recognised degree conferring eligibility for associate
membership of the Australian Library and Information Association

*         High level of written and verbal communication skills.

*         High level of customer services skills and experience.

*         Extensive knowledge of collection development and stock
selection principles, and common reference tools.

*         Sound knowledge of cataloguing and classification tools and
library computer systems

*         Comprehensive knowledge of AMLIB Library Management software,
MS Office and associated applications.

*         An understanding of the partnership between state government
and local government in the provision of public library services within
Western Australia.

 

 

The salary range applicable is $52,920 to $55,703 pro rata. The City
offers a generous superannuation scheme including employer contributions
of up to 15%.
