Students are welcome to this AGM – the talk by the new Director of the Museum should be interesting as he is well and truly underway with lots of energy (my spies tell me J )

Notice is hereby given that the 2010/11 Annual General Meeting of the Australian Society of Archivists (ASA) W.A. Branch will be held on Wednesday 21 July 2010 in the Geographe Room, State Library of WA at 5.00pm.  

 

A guest speaker will talk on merging archives, which is currently a topical issue in Australia with the proposed collocation of several National Archives of Australia state offices. Guest speaker is Mr Alec Coles OBE, (current Chief Executive Officer, Western Australian Museum), to speak on ‘Merging of an Archive, the UK experience’. 

 

Mr Coles as Director of the UK Tyne & Wear Museum was one of the key players involved in the Tyne & Wear Archives Services merger with the Tyne and Wear Museum in April 2009. 

 

Event details 

                        Date: 21 July 2010

Venue: Geographe Room, State Library of WA

Time:  5.00pm - 5:30pm - networking and refreshments

5:30pm - 6:00pm - Alec Coles will speak on merging Archives 

6:00pm - 7:00pm – Meeting

$2 donation is requested to cover cost of refreshments

This is a great opportunity to network with colleagues and, most importantly, become involved in the WA Branch of the ASA.
