The National Archives helps the Australian Government manage its
information now and into the future.

The Government Information Management Branch works with Australian
Government agencies and provides practical products and services to
assist them to meet their information management obligations under the
Archives Act. A key priority for the branch is keep abreast of
technological change and to proactively encourage agencies to create and
manage information in digital formats. 

It does this by:

*          Developing policies to regulate management of information and
records by agencies 

*          Developing and delivering a range of targeted training
programs and practical products and services. 

*          Authorising the disposal of Commonwealth records in
accordance with the Archives Act 

*          Liaising with key agencies on whole-of-government information
and records management issues 

*          Initiating and participating in strategic projects that
enhance the capability of the branch to deliver technologically sound
advice. 

The Branch is seeking expressions of interest for a range of non-ongoing
positions at the APS 4, 5 and 6 levels over the next 6-12 months. We are
seeking enthusiastic, creative people who will enjoy the challenge of
finding new ways to meet the business information management needs of
government agencies in the current fast changing and challenging
technical environment. 

 

Selection Criteria

 

*                     Understanding of or experience in one or more of
the following areas: records and information management; data
management; the use of technology in information management; archival
practices; development and delivery of adult training; development of
information products.

*                     Demonstrated ability to formulate, interpret and
communicate information and advice to a range of audiences.

*                     Demonstrated ability to actively participate in
team projects and foster positive internal and external working
relationships.

*                     Well developed organisational skills, the capacity
for good judgment and demonstrated research and analytical skills.

*                     Demonstrated ability to participate in the
implementation and promotion of new policies, advice, procedures and
products, and the ability to adapt to and positively influence change in
the workplace.

*                     High level written and verbal communication skills

 

To be eligible for engagement the applicants would normally be
Australian citizens and successful applicants will be required to
undertake a security assessment to the PROTECTED level.
