Dear all
It is with much pleasure that I inform you that our Information Studies
colleague Dr Margaret Pember was awarded the 2008 J Eddis Linton Award
- see: http://www.rmaa.com.au/docs/awards/fed/linton/index.cfm for
records management in the category of Outstanding Individual. Margaret
was nominated by the RMAA WA branch. The award is presented annually by
the Records Management Association of Australasia (RMAA) and Margaret
received her award at the RMAA annual conference in Sydney last week.
What follows is an excerpt from the award citation:
Margaret is currently employed as an archives and records management
lecturer at Curtin University of Technology, where she is also the
undergraduate course co-ordinator. Margaret has worked in the records,
archives and library environment in Australia, the UK, Singapore and
Fiji. Her research interests include information disaster planning and
risk management, information as a corporate resource or asset, the
professionalisation of recordkeeping, and professional development and
continuing education for records and information professionals.
Margaret was commended for her tireless promotion of records management
as a profession and her dedication in educating recordkeeping
professionals over the last 20 years, as well as her research
activities. She has served on professional bodies at the state, national
and international level and was instrumental in the upgrading of
Informaa Quarterly, the professional journal of the RMAA, to a scholarly
and refereed publication.
