Level 2, $42,017 - $46686 pa, (PSGA)

WORK TYPE:  Full Time 75 Hrs Per F/N
LOCATION: Perth

This position is offered as a 6 month contract/secondment opportunity
with the possibility of extension. This position is a temporary
opportunity as it is externally funded for a finite period.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The primary focus of the position is to coordinate the capture of WA
Police Historical Society archival records into a well organised, easily
accessible repository of historical records.  The position advises on
registration, disposal, ensures the approved Retention and Disposal
Schedule is complied with and liaises with the State Records Office
regarding consignments.  The position also provides advice to records
management on retention, archiving, disposal and destruction matters,
including advice on identification and conservation of records.
 
The position makes recommendations on the appropriate storage and
disposal action for various historical record types.  The position also
assists with drafting record keeping plans, develops and recommends
amendments to the Retention and Disposal Schedule as necessary, and
liaises with the State Records Office on such matters. 
 
Within the agency the position liaises with the Manager and Police
Historian, RMC on record keeping matters that may impact the WAPOL
Historical Society.  External to the Agency the position liaises with
the State Records Office and other conservation specialists.

Ultimately, the position will also assist the Agreement Manager of the
Service Agreement between WAPOL and the WAPHS meet reporting
obligations.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Applicants are asked to address the following nominated criteria only;

1. Experience in the use of records management systems.
2. Communication skills (written and verbal).
3. Analytical and problem solving skills.
4. Knowledge of archive functions and conservation principles.
Please note: For applicants who are short listed, the remaining
selection criteria listed in the Position Description Form may be
assessed at some stage during the selection process.

OTHER CONDITIONS

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above
vacancy, it may also be used to fill other identical vacancies
throughout the metropolitan area.  In addition to this, should the
successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the
next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process.
Both of these options remain valid for a period of six (6) months from
the initial date of the appointment.

Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended
applicant for this position is not a current WA Police employee. Any
relocation costs associated with appointment to this position may be the
responsibility of the successful applicant.
