The University of Western Australia is seeking a suitably skilled
student of Information Studies to fill the contract position of Project
Officer. The Project Officer, under the general guidance of the Manager,
Archives & Records, will be responsible for implementing a new record
keeping system for paper records within three schools of the University.
This will involve implementing a web-based application that allows for
the registration of paper files, as well as the development of
procedures that will support the application.

The successful applicant will have a sound knowledge of records
management practice and theory and a good understanding of the records
continuum, thesauri and records classification schemes, particularly
functional arrangements. Good project management skills are essential.

The Project Officer will be employed on a contract at level HEE 6 ($
56,001 pa). The hours are negotiable but a minimum of 22.5 hours per
week will be required. The length of the contract will depend on the
hours worked per week. However, it is envisaged that a total of 22.5
hours worked per week would equate to a six month contract. We intend
the project to commence as soon as possible.

This is a great opportunity for a skilled, self motivated and well
organised person to gain practical experience in the world of
information management. A CV and brief statement as to the candidate's
suitability for the position should be submitted to the Manager,
Archives and Records by Tuesday 22 May (contact details below).
