Position Vacant
Archivist
Part Time (10 hours per week)

The Pallottines are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic person
to fill the vacant position of Archivist for their Regional office. This
is a part time position working at the archives located in Rossmoyne,
Perth, Western Australia.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a sound understanding
of archive principles and procedures and possess or have nearly
completed relevant tertiary qualifications. The position involves the
administration and co-ordination of the Archives for the Australian
Region.

Key Responsibilities:

*	Advise Society members and staff on matters relevant to archives

management
*	Maintain, update and implement archives policies and procedures
*	Appraise, arrange and describe the archive collection according
to 
industry standards
*	Identify materials for conservation and preservation.
*	Provide research services for the Regional Leadership Team
*	Respond to routine enquiries about the history of the
Pallottines and 
their Ministries
*	Networking and liaising with other professional bodies and the
archival 
community to ensure awareness of developments in the industry
*	Continued professional development through courses and
conferences
*	Liaise with other Pallottine Provinces and Regions and their
archivists
*	Collate a database of Pallottine contacts and associates



Skills / Knowledge / Experience required (Selection Criteria) :

Essential
*	Eligibility to be a professional member of the Australian
Society of 
Archivists.
*	Minimum qualification - Hold or near completion of a Tertiary
degree in 
Archives Management.
*	Relevant experience in archives management, including experience
in 
managing archives projects.
*	Thorough understanding of contemporary archives and
recordkeeping 
concepts, best practice archives management and issues.
*	Experience in the arrangement, description and sentencing of
inactive 
records and archives.
*	Knowledge of preservation and conservation principles.
*	Demonstrated time management and project management skills.
*	High level of computer literacy.
*	High degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
*	High level of integrity and discretion.
*	Sound written and verbal communication skills.
*	Ability to operate autonomously and with initiative and
flexibility.

Desirable
*	Knowledge and understanding of Museum principles and practice
*	Knowledge of German and Italian
*	Knowledge of the Catholic tradition
